Meet Gemma

Gemma lives on Waiheke Island with her husband (a scientist and lecturer in molecular biology at Auckland University), her two young boys Tom & Sam, and her sassy Devon Rex cat Tess. Gemma graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Prior to this she completed a PhD in genetics and biochemistry at Massey University in Palmerston North.

Gemma delivers in-home veterinary care on Waiheke. Currently these services include, vaccinations, euthanasia, and general consults in the comfort of your own home which provides stress-free, safe and comfortable veterinary care for you and your pets.

Meet Molly

Molly lives on Waiheke Island with her partner Lee (a welder and fabricator), her twin girls Lottie and Shelby, as well as her mastiff Barney and tortoiseshell cat Frida. Molly graduated from Massey University with a bachelor of veterinary science in 2021. Molly has been a long time local and returned to the island to work as a vet after finishing her veterinary degree.

Our Services


We offer convenient mobile veterinary services with home visits, as well as in-store appointments three days per week. Currently, in-store appointments are generally available for dogs only, while we see all other pets in the comfort of their own homes. Dog owners can also choose home visits if preferred.


Our consultation room is located within the Pet Connect store at 19 Belgium Street, Ostend.

For dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds, we provide:

  • Skin and ear examinations
  • Arthritis management
  • Blood tests and pathology services
  • 24/7 emergency care for existing clients
  • Skin biopsies and lump sampling
  • Treatment of cuts, injuries and minor surgery
  • Palliative care and in-home euthanasia

For Your Equine Friends

Our horse services include:

  • Vaccinations and health checks
  • Treatment of cuts, injuries, and minor surgery
  • Laminitis management
  • Faecal egg counts
  • Worming treatments and advice
  • Tick and lice treatment and prevention
  • Blood testing
  • Prescription medication
  • Emergency care for existing clients

Prices

Vaccinations : Feline $105-$115, Canine $95-$175

In-home euthanasia: From $385 

Consultations: ($97.50; additional pets $87.50 each)

The below services are offered with consultations or vaccinations:

Nail Clips: $42.50

Anal glands: $42.50

Parasite prevention

An additional $25 will be charged for visits past Onetangi. Thank you for your understanding.

Gemma or Molly are always contactable by existing clients for emergencies on 020 4109 6152. If the situation requires treatment beyond what we can provide (I.e. hospitalisation or general anaesthesia) then we are able to refer you to one of our trusted referral partners, or equally if you have somewhere in mind you’d like to be referred to we can easily facilitate your self referral.

Maggie

Dr Gemma put our elderly cat Mrs Pussy Poo Poos down when her quality of life really started to deteriorate and the options for medical treatment would have been too taxing on the old girl to go through. Gemma was excellent at communicating Mrs PPPs' condition to us and extremely patient, professional, reassuring and empathetic during the whole experience - from figuring out when the time was right to giving us options for her body post mortem. It was sad of course but being able to keep Mrs PPPs at home made the end of her life peaceful and as low stress as possible. Gemma is a wonderful vet and it'll be great for the island's animals and owners to have this service.
